Study Time Snack!

Eating healthy is SUCH a task in college. I'm counting down the days till I'm home for some good mama's cooking that won't give me the runs like campus food. The selection of food is boring too! Probably the worst mistake I make with my diet are my study snacks. So, I decided to give these Pinterest inspired bananas a shot! They are perfect healthy choice for chocolate cravings, for ice cream cravings, and just any kind of cravings! All it is are banana slices topped with some peanut butter, Jif of course, and then drizzled with some dark or milk chocolate and then frozen!

And whats even better?! They are SO EASY to make in a dorm room! As long as your freezer is free with space, they fit perfectly in one of those microfridge freezers and then pop them in a ziplock for easier storage! My sister made them for my niece as a snack at home and she said she loved them! So moms, let your kids make them as a rainy day activity!

The REAL Revolution?

My newest TV addiction, besides for Showtime's Homeland is by far NBC's Revolution. For those who haven't checked it out yet, the new fall drama tells the story of our world fifteen years after a complete blackout. No electronics work, nothing, no lights, no cars, phones, anything. Society is changed and government is overthrown. Its a pretty exciting show and I urge you to check it out  Monday nights!

Its kind of freaky though, because just a few days before the show aired, my college town, along with three or four other counties had a complete blackout. Everyone was joking saying it was a zombie apocalypse. No one knew why THE ENTIRE town lost power, because at the time that's all we knew by looking out across the valley (my school is on top of a 'mountain'). The next day, I learned that over 52,000 people lost power throughout the Northern Tier! And whats more wild? They still don't know why the power went out and its been weeks. That's not too reassuring. Why the power when out, I don't think we'll ever know for sure. I'm just happy that it DID come back on, unlike in the show.

Baby Steps

With still learning all the ins and outs of Blogger, I am proud to say that I just did my first link up! My roommie,  and best friend, author of Second Hand Solace, showed me though it and I must admit, it was pretty exciting! Along with that, after my ten o'clock class tomorrow, the DREADED macroeconomics, I plan on setting up an "About Me" page! However, right now I am focused on finishing work for class tomorrow, showering, and hitting the sack. Pictures and stories regarding an extended Labor Day weekend will also be posted tomorrow! And lets just say that this college girl was not in the library all weekend... Goodnight! xx

The Sixers lost, and so did I.

That's Steve. And those are my crazy friends in the background. But more importantly, that's Steve.
And this picture was taken on the first day we met. It was the playoffs for the Philadelphia 76ers game on May 17th of this year.

This was on our second date. It is a horrible picture, but this is our second date. Amazing seats down the third base line at the corner. We're at Citizens Bank Park for a Phillies game. I love my Phills. They lost that game; I cant even remember who they played. I was too caught up in Steve.

Yes, this is at another Phillies game. Nose bleed section, but still really good seats. And a great game that was followed with an amazing fireworks show. It was so perfect. And this is when we officially a couple. Not the exact day, but its our first picture as boyfriend/girlfriend. Gosh, that night was amazing.

That's Steve again. And that's right before my sister and I left for a concert. Steve got me tickets to see Sigur Ros' sold out show, their first show in over four years that just happened to kick of their world tour. Words cannot even describe how grateful I'll always be for that. I wish he would have went with me though. Still.
That is my goober of a boyfriend, Steve. Well, I guess ex-boyfriend. I just broke up with him via text. Ruuudeeeee, I know. But we're currently four hours apart and long distance isn't ideal. It has only been a week. I've gone a week without seeing him before. But lets be real. He's a college graduate. I'm a college sophomore who doesn't drive. I would be home every other weekend just to see him if I could. He just had three days off of work. He went and visited all his friends at two different schools. If you add up all the driving between that, he could have came up to see me.  That bugs me. He choose drinking with friends over me. And I totally support that, I love when he has time alone with his friends, but never again will he have work off like that, I just know it.

And it may be because I'm on my period, it may be because I've realized I'm totally in love with the kid already and that scares me, it may be because I'm stupid, but I broke up with him. Even though
I
Have
Never
Been
Happier.

I guess I took the easy way out. And I know him so I doubt he'll even ask why I did. That kinda bugs me too. But I guess what's done is done. And I guess now it's time to cry a bit. But I think it'll be easy to get over, its not like I'll ever see him again.

Unless I get my sanity back soon and he'll take me back.

Syllabus

Hey there! I'm Erica, a college sophomore studying Social Studies Education at the secondary level. Its currently my second day of classes this fall semester and I'm already stressed. See, I did not do well academically last year. This is my last chance, however. If I cannot bring my grades up by the end of this year, I will face the depressing fact of failing out of my major and if that is to happen, my parents will not help my pay for schooling either, so I have A LOT at stake.

So, my goal: to get my grades up BIG TIME. I plan to spend most of my time doing work, which is something new to me.

My dilemma: I like to have fun! I'm one of those crazy kids who do things just to say I did it. I love my social life and I love going out! I mean, what college kid doesn't?!

The challenge: To ace all my classes and still maintain a similar social life as I had this past year and at the same time, keep you all updated on the experiences I have while at Mansfield University! Hopefully, I can make you laugh, inspire those of you going though similar situations, and most importantly, accomplish my goal.

On that note, stick around! Visit often - I will try and update every other day at least! But don't forget, school comes first!
